About this event:
Trusting In The LORD
I backed out of my driveway at the same time that my neighbor backed out of his.
He was coming toward me and I was going toward him. We stopped window to
window to talk about what was going on in his life. At the age of 42 he had a heart
attack and was in the hospital several times over the course of the past two months.
He had on different days a total of three stints put in his veins around his heart.
Along with high blood pressure, a heart with three stints, loss of work, loss of strength,
he is very thankful.
The shock of what hit him was devastating. How do you prepare for an unexpected
heart attack? How do you prepare for life’s crazy alarming events?
A few weeks ago, my brother-in-law, Frank, was in a massive car crash. A F-250
had run a red light smashing his car like a wadded up piece of paper. The picture
of the crash was astounding. At first glance you wonder how could anyone come
out of that crash alive? He has a severely broken wrist and had to have emergency
surgery. He is going to be out of work I believe for at least four months without the
use of his right hand.
How do you get yourself prepared for a head on collision? How do you prepare
yourself for using one hand to dress yourself, one hand to eat, one hand to drive,
one hand to load things in the car? The obvious answer that most of us would say
is, “you don’t!” How could we ever prepare for something like that?
I know of only one way to prepare ourselves for any of life’s events. I don’t say this
flippantly, nor without deep Covenantal commitment; Jesus Christ is our source.
Jesus Christ is our source of strength. He helps us when nothing and no one else can.
He gives us assurance that no matter what happens in this life we have peace and hope
in His promises. He is the one who has promised us that He would go with us, He will be
with us, and He will give us life.
How can you live life from day to day not knowing what is going to happen and have
no assurance of the future? How can you face tragedy or devastating events without
the hope and peace that only Christ can give? How can you face weeks and months of
turmoil and a life turned upside down without knowing Jesus Christ as your personal
Lord and Savior?
I hope you not only ask for prayer, you live out your life everyday trusting in the
LORD Jesus Christ. I hope you live day by day knowing that you are faithfully living
as one of God’s children. I hope when tragedy or unforeseen circumstances come you
are already prepared with faith, deep rooted, abiding, trusting faith in Jesus Christ.
