Devotional: Work for the Lord.
I love a good Chick-fil-a sandwich, don’t you? I know they don’t load it with a lot of extra’s but their chicken is very tasty. When you go in to the restaurant, it is always clean and the employees always seem to have a smile on their face. I don’t think I have ever gone in one where I came out and said, that employee was quite cranky, or moody. Every visit there seems to be appreciation for your business and a kind word when you leave. You know what that word is, yes, “my pleasure.”
I was thinking of a verse the other day and it made me realize there are some companies that want to do the very best that they can. They want to serve you. They want your business. They want you to feel that you are important. We know that Chick-fil-a has a Christian foundation so it is even more important to them how they serve.
The verse that came to mind was found in Colossians 3:23, 24. “Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.”
If we could get on our minds that in everything we do, it ought to be to praise God. I believe it would change how we act with people. We would be more patient, kind, thoughtful, and aware. We would be more accepting, non-judgmental, and would serve with passion. Let us remember the powerful witness we have every day to others. And remember when we serve to do so heartily unto the Lord.
