242 Student Ministries

What is “JOE”?
The focus of the 2:42 Student Ministry strategy is for students to put Jesus first in their lives. JOE means “Jesus Over Everything!". It is without doubt that when Jesus has his rightful place in our hearts he makes a certain impact which leads us to make valuable life changes and experiencing a personal relationship with Jesus equips us to
better share the message of Jesus Christ with anyone who needs to hear it.
A Pool Hall in a church?
The 242 Student Ministry has a unique room where we meet. We call it the Pool Hall. “Pool" is our vision of how to achieve “JOE”. Pool stands for, “Provide Opportunities and Offer Love.” When students arrive at JOE's Pool Hall we want them to feel appreciated, welcomed and loved. We are excited when new students visit us. Everyone is welcome for worship or just to hang out play pool, ping-pong, foosball, video games (Xbox and Wii) or watch a movie and eat popcorn.
One thing we encourage in the 242 Student Ministries is serving others. Students have a wide variety of ways to put their faith into action. The 242 Student Ministry follows a model that gives students the opportunity to serve locally, nationally and internationally.
Students are involved in the weekly corporate worship service on Sunday mornings, choir, dramas and childcare. Students also help by serving with ministries such as Jessie's Place, Oak Mountain Ministries and other local outreach services.
Many students also serve statewide and nationally by serving as members of councils and committees for Alabama Church of God Ministries (Anderson, Indiana), as well as, giving time and services to work projects, Camp Chula Vista and relief efforts.
Students are given the opportunity to serve internationally through mission trips. Students have the opportunity to experience another culture and serve both God and people in the process. Over the last few years, students have taken trips to Mexico, Costa Rica, Guyana, Kenya and London.
